store bought greenscreen paint?

Does anyone know what color/brand of green paint would be best for a DYI greenscreen?

I know that you can buy real chroma key paint for like $50 a can, but there's gotta be a color that's close at sherwin williams or whatever....

Any ideas?

My thought is to paint the large 4' x 8' sheets of insulation foam that can be bought, then attaching them to whatever location I shoot at....

There was a post that gave the info to get paint mixed to the correct colour.
Sorry but I can't remember when I saw it. Why not do a search?

Just get close. Your keyer should be able to key out any color, so if it's not Roscoe green, that's fine.

I've tried! I'm just not real good at these searchs....John

I did a search on "chroma paint code" and checked the entries until I came to the 15th entry, titled "my cheapo greenscreen" (http://www.dvxuser.com/V3/showthread.php?t=19201&highlight=chroma+paint).

The 10th reply on that page was by Gregi_23 and stated the following:

LOW BUDGET CHROMA GREEN PAINT

Mixed by Lowe's Hardware, it is a very close match to the original chroma green and about half the price. Lowes will mix it if you give them the following numbers: 103-4Y 113-1Y 1145Y32
And I guess HOme Depot too............ :P

Thanks

I believe that is the information you were asking about.

Hope this helps,

I went to home depot and took a bunch of those sample cards and tested to see which green worked the best...

As Jim noted above - Anything close will work. It just needs to be lit nice and even. You could key purple for what it's worth. The reason behind Chroma Green is it's a very uncommon color in day to day use and you won't be clearing out someone's shirt or hair. [Well I sure hope not:cheesy: ]

If you want something less permanent, you can go to a large fabric outlet and see what they have near the right color. I got a bunch that is damn near the prefect color last year for $3 a yard at 72" wide.... 6x12 sheet ran me $12

I happend to find, at Hobby Lobby, a bolt of cloth which was, I kid you not, chroma green on one side and chroma blue on the other. I snatched up the last two yards.

Generally speaking, green is used more often because the blue channel is more noisy and makes keys more problematic.

the color shoudlnt just be a bright color that is uncommon to wear. While these colors will work better than others the best is to come up with something that most similiarly matches R G or B since 3 chip cameras have a ccd for each and the typical chroma keyer will look for these primary colors

To all who responded... Thank you very much. I swear to you guys I looked for 2 hours on google and didn't find anything so helpfull... :)
