Hello, does anyone knows anything about Sony AIT-5 technology?
I work in a Company that needs a reliable way to make backups.
We work with HVX200, Varicam footage and 35mm transfered to SD. We eddit in Final cut/ Xraid with a Kona card.

Hi,

I have an AIT drive and have been using it to archive HVX footage. I can't remember whether mine is AIT2 or 3 or what, but I'm very happy with it.
I dislike Sony, however, and would avoid buying equipment from them is you possibly can. I have found their customer service to be severely lacking (at least in Australia). For that reason alone, if I had to buy a tape drive over again, I would go with a different brand.

Thank you Malcon. I'll do some tests with AIT 5 today. I don't know if there is any disadvantage in backing up data insted of Video. Which software you use to organize your projects inside AIT tape?
 
Hey folks

I am looking for a p2 archive solution as well...the alt-5 as come to my attention and I would love to hear your results. Any news on this?
