Stopping smaller footage auto-scale to project resolution?

I'm working in a 720p project and have a lot of footage that is under 720p. Vegas is auto-scaling all of it to fit the frame... how do I stop this?

Thanks as always.

You mean you only want it to cover part of the 720p frame, with a blank border around it? You can use the Pan/Crop feature to pan out to any appropriate size. That could be a pain to do for each event though - not sure if there's a global setting to tell Vegas not to rescale footage...

Yep that's pretty much what I'm looking for. Hoping not to have to Pan/Crop every time.

At worst, you should be able to get one event perfect, then Cut > Paste Attributes onto the others, but that's still not wildly convenient, especially if you also want filters etc, as Paste Attributes pastes all attributes. You can save Pan/Crop presets, which might be some help.

Inside the Pan/Crop screen, there's a 'Stretch to fill frame' option which you can set to No, which seems to do what you want(although it seems to also limit you to only showing the footage in the exact middle of the frame), but I can't see anywhere in Preferences to set that as a default anyway. :(

You can create a new video track and go to its "Track Motion" properties box. In there, set the width to the width and height to your desired video's dimensions. Now any video clip you bring into this track will automatically occupy only that amount of the frame. Make a new track for any other frame sizes you want to be maintained.

For example, if my project was 720p and i wanted to bring in a 720x480 video and not scale it up to 720p, then I would make my new track's "Track Motion" property a width of 720 and height 480.
