Stop Motion, Frame Grabs?

I'm trying to get the effect of using stop motion (like cloulds that go whizzing by). I searched for information using our DVX100B to get the effect, but the only thing I could find was 'one-shot recording'.

I tried a test using the one-shot recording and setting the record time to .5 seconds, spent 1 1/2 hours hitting the start/stop on the remote. It didn't turn out well.

I'm wondering if there is an easy way in Vegas to extract a frame at a time, say every 1 second, and build a track that would have this effect?

I also want to use this for some animation work.

There is a render image sequence script that'll do it for you in tools. You can tell it how many frames per second you want saved.

Unless you want it jittery, why not just crank the footage up 1,000%+? That way, when the clouds whiz by, they're silky smooth ... again, unless you want the jittery/stop motion effect.
