Buyoutfootage.com sells public domain WWII collections and newreels, transferred from the National Archives: http://www.buyoutfootage.com/pages/pd_mil_wwii.html
Much of the footage from WWII is from Frank Capra's 1943 series called "Why We Fight" which is 4 hours long and on the National Registry - it is certified as public domain by the National Archives. You can buy the entire collection on DVD:
http://www.deepdiscount.com/viewproduct.htm?productId=7499027
You can also download mpeg files from www.archive.org for viewing. They have the Capra series.

Hi. Thanks for the links!
Specific, yes: Normandy beach footage or soldiers marching or fighting. Its just going to be used as a quick flashback sequence during a dialogue sequence.
