Stills Motion

I'm working with Nokia in support of the Young Lions Film Competition, and after watching the USA video, I had a question about the best way to shoot a video of that nature. Is it better to record a video and cut out clips of it, or to take pictures and create a motion picture, like a sticky pad? Thanks! Oh and P.S., USA came in second in the competition.

This form of filming is called stop motion animation. The best way to do this is to take a picture of your subject, then have it move a little bit. Then take another picture, etc. Once you put all the pictures together it will act just like a sticky pad animation and it will seem as though they are moving. This is often done with clay models and is used in many films such as the Nightmare before xmas, chicken run, and so on.
