They look good but is it the jpeg compression making that tiny bit of noise on everything? Is that in your original footage?

the noise is the xh-a1, that's the problem i have with "some" of the footage coming from my xh-a1...they look great !!
the outdoor shots look a bit "videoish" to me, but the indoor shots look good,..

*thinking out loud* --- I wonder how these shots will look blown up to 35 film --- hum...

my favorite shots are #3 and #1. #3 for composition and light and #1 for lense choice.

I see the noise but it is a heck less noisy than my shots LOL. It is much more crispy too, which is probably why it starts looking more like video on some of the shots, choice of lens also gave high DOF, so that's possibly why too.

my canon a1 is certainly not noisy. I think also, the brevis gives a deeper depth of feild then say the sgpro or red rock. Notice, how the sg seems like it was custom made for the a1.

My a1 doesn't really look that noisy, but looking at these grabs again they're barely noisy at all. I shoot half the time with an original hvx200, that was noisy.

Newman, put -3 gain as your "L" gain setting, and never ever touch that thing again! (If you already did this, then idk, might be the grabs, might be the adapter?)

Some nice grabs there.

What preset were you using?

Sorry about this, couldn't help it:

I like them a lot. Though I think you should've stopped your 35mm lens down a bit for the outdoors shots, just to make it a little more natural. Then again it also depends on the scene and what you were going for.

Video noise is something that always drives me a bit crazy...but regardless, these look great. Once our relay lens is done (finally) I'll be looking very much forward to firing up the HPX500 with the Brevis directly attached. The clean image and light senstivity combined with a pretty amazing relay lens is going to be something special :-)
