still photos in anamorphic timeline problem

So I'm using some still photos in my anamorphic sequence. When I open them in the viewer or canvas, they stretch beyond the anamorphic box (all of the footage stays within the letterbox b/c it's an anamorphic timeline.) When i click "anamorphic" on the still image's clip in the bin, it just stretches it wide, but does not put it into the proper letterbox format, any ideas what's going wrong? Thanks!

you probably just have to play with the wireframe

Did you set your pixel aspect ratio on the photo to 1.2? Perhaps your photo needs to be scaled to fit the timeline window (check in the Motion tab).
