Still Image is backing up about 8 frames.

Has anyone else had this problem, you try to save a "still image" from your time line using Quicktime Conversion and it takes a image several frames before in the timeline. It does it every time, anyone know why or how to prevent this? You'd think if you have the dial on that frame it would make you a quicktime conversion of that frame and not one several frames before, anyways I thought it was weird.

Not sure why that would happen, but a quick workaround would be to put the playhead on the timeline (on the frame you want of course). Press "shift N" and it'll create a still image of that and place it in the viewer. Export that.

Thanks, I'll do that. Is that the short cut for a freeze frame then?

Yes, I am using the Canon Xh-A1 and it is HD. By I-frame, do you mean interlaced frame?
I-frame stands for "intra-frame." The way HDV-2 (the HDV variant used by Sony and Canon) encodes the signal is to use a 15 frame GOP (group of pictures). What this means is that every 15 frames is an I-frame (a completely frame of video) and between those I-frames are 14 incomplete frames of video that use the frames around them to "fill in the blanks" on playback so you see a 30 complete frames of video a second. What I think is happening is that when you go the export a still image FCP is jumping to the most recent I-frame because it can't, for whatever reason, export one of the 'in-between' frames.
