A Leatherman is invaluable. Some grip tape and camera tape is good. C-47s. CTO, CTB and a selection of diffusion is helpful. a couple clamps. and Some white foam core board.
I'd rent other things like C-Stands, diffusion frames and big stuff the like. oh... and yes that Arri D1 kit is great (that was my first light kit) - don't expect it to do much outdoors in daylight or to compete with daylight blasting in through a window - maybe the 650 but I ended up getting some open face 1Ks (arri of course) and they have a good punch for punch needed situations.
