Stickypod car camera mount

I'm thinking about buying a camera mount for my car. The stickypod at www.stickypod.com costs about $130 for the best model. Has anyone had experience with this product? I heard it's not very heavy duty but it seems like a good price. Does anyone have other suggestions about different brands?

Myself and MrPunchFilms used one last weekend, and we got some INCREDIBLE results. We hung it on the driver's side door with three suction cups. Sets up very quickly, very adjustable, and pretty darn smooth. I'd stick my DVX on one with confidence anytime.

Totally my bad...we did NOT use a StickyPod, we used the Filmtools.com product. I think we started with the 3-piece Windshield mount kit, and upgraded all of the suction cups to bigger sizes. Worked like a champ.

Hey, I have (and am selling) 4 Bogen suction cups for this kinda thing. WAY more heavy duty than the sticky rig. Take a look on ebay or B&H (or I'll sell you mine!!)

Happy Day,
Steve

I've used the stickypod with my dvx stuck to the passenger side window. Works great and does come with safety straps that you can run through the window, just in case.

Cinemount Camera Mount

Cinemount Camera Mount

Has anyone used the Cinemount Camera Mount? It goes for $110 on Ebay. Is one suction cup really enough to support my DVX? Are the camera mounts with 3-4 suction cups better?

Thanks,

Mike

Obviously 3 or 4 suction cups are better, but try it with one and if you don't think it's enough, order the rest of the kit later.

Here's what we used: http://store.yahoo.com/cinemasupplies/filiuncamofo.html

They now include 1 6" suction cup and 2 4.5" suction cups. I replaced the 3" cups that were originally included in the kit with the 4.5" ones recently and they're MUCH better. The 6" cup alone, though, is rated at 70 lbs.

Like mjmcneese2 said, hanging it on the side of the car - go for all the support you can.

And it was EASY to set up and move around.

THE stickypod's good and comes with suckers thaT wont let you down. HOWEVER I bought one for my DVX and used it just once and busted my tripod thread on the Dvx. Either the DVX has a weak thread or the stickypod screw is somehow to blame. Anyone know where I can get this fixed in the UK?
