stereo in headphones on input 1

If I come onto my dvx100 through xlr input one, I only get one channel - how do I split this into stereo during capture? Or do I just delete the on-camera audi track and dup the input from the shotgun? At the very least, I'd like to hear the hotgun mic in the headphones.

You cant! One mic will only give you a mono signal (unless it is a stereo mic). If you want that mono signal to be on both tracks you can use input 2 and switch both channels to input 2. Be advised that this will NOT be stereo, but a dual mono recording.
