Atlast our zero budget feature film is almost done shooting, we shot this in 1080PN P2, 24fps/48 shutter, AVC I-100, now its in our computer through Edius 5.5, we need to color correct it, put effects in AE, and then we want to release it in a local theatre in 3 months(May 2011), but I have never done this part before, I know upto editing HD in edius and make a Bluray, I need to know the proper steps involved to send this to theatre release, but dont even know what format they accept, is it on film,Digibeta or whatever. please shine a light...thanks in advance

Theaters for the most part are prepared for 35mm print or DCP (Digital Cinema Package). Lots of considerations and costs associated with either method. Are you planning on color correction for a film out? Will you be doing the color correction? Do you have proper LUTs and monitoring to do so? Audio - 5.1? If you are looking to screen at a single theater, and they have a digital projector you can usually make arrangements to bring in a deck or DVD player and play from there - but multiple theater release is either film or DCP. A zero budget at this stage doesn't bode well as proper deliverables can get costly. You best best (lowest cost) is to take your color corrected master - hopefully correct for REC 709 HD color space and do a basic encode and color space conversion for a DCP. You should be able to find those services in Vancouver o PM me for some suggestions in US.

Thanks Michael,
yes we will be spending some money to make it deliverable to the theatre, initially we will release it in one theatre and then wait to see the response before deciding to release it in multi-theatre, we will do the editing and color correcting for DCP .MXF files- yes we are doing the color correction in our small studio, we have adobe suit (i hope that works) and edius5.5 and 6.0, we need to upres the footage to 2k, Audio will be 5.1 yes. I know there are many companies which convert from HD to film and DCP, and we will goto them when we finish doing everything on our side. I need to know the things to keep in mind in the begining so that I won't screw up later. what i am planning is
>edit it in Edius or Premiere
>color-correct it in either
>Vfx in AE
because we have all these in house, I know FCP will be a better option but then i need to spend some money,

Then the most basic master you want to deliver to them is a full color corrected master in REC 709. Don't uprez your titles, make them at your delivery resolution as they deteriorate the fastest in an uprez process. The 5.1 mix will have to be exported as 6 channels L, C, R, LR, LL, and Sub to be authored correctly in the DCP. But back to the color correction process - a calibrated monitor, scopes, and a 'calibrated" viewing environment is crucial.
