i've got a few weird problems with my DV footage (25p). There appears to be some stepping (pixelation) in areas that are heavily blue or red lit. I've researched this and have come across articles on chroma upsampling. I haven't yet resolved the issue, but the weird thing is when I output the footage to tape the stepping is not visible. Even when projected on a Barco HD Cine projector!!! Any idea why this disappears and how to resolve it in FCP?
There is also some flicker in areas of the footage mostly on harsh vertical and horizontal lines.
I was lucky enough to have some footage blown-up to 35mm and on the whole it looked fantastic! There was no stepping, but some weird vertical wobbly lines around areas of grain. Any ideas what this is? And the flicker disappeared completely?
