Step Down Ring Stuck to Front of HVX

Not sure how much help I can get from here, but does anyone have any advice/suggestions for unscrewing a step down ring from the front of the HVX? There's not much to grab and it's on pretty tight. I didn't even screw it on tight...but must've been the force of the brevis going on that tightened it to the point it's at now.

Any suggestions?

Try spraying it with an upside-down can of compressed air. If you're careful and can give the ring a shot in a few places, it might make it shrink enough to unscrew it.

Go to an auto parts store and pick up a oil filter wrench like the one below.
You should be able to take it out pretty easily.

Use a rubber mat.
Put it on a table.
Put your HVX lens down to the rubber mat.
Turn.
Done.

We've had the same problem and found that the rubber jar openers work pretty well.

We are also having the same problem...

Looks like the HVX has a 72mm thread on the front now, had better amend that in the user manual...

I had this happen to me the other day with an 82mm UV filter. I wrapped the outside with masking tape, and then put on rubber gloves (the kind you use to wash dishes), and with a little effort I was finally able to unscrew it. After two days of being totally unsure of what to do (btw, I found my answer on this site, in an old post).
