Stedicam support plans....anybody see this on ebay

I remember another eBay seller, it might be the same one, who was selling jib plans.

They wouldn't show you any pictures of examples that were built with their plans either.
Apparently the finished jib was built entirely out of 2x4's, seems portability was overlooked in the design phase....

Ask him for pictures of actual items built from his plans, not the commercial pictures he shows of retail products.

I'll bet he won't give you any....

HomeBuilt stablizer homepage is the best place on the net to see rigs and meet the people who build them. I'd get an opinion from those folks on the best plans out there. Cody, on that site, has or had a set of plans that worked well according to people who built theirs. There are a lot of problems to overcome when building your own. I put a reasonable rig together combining the marZpak and a shoulder stabilizer unit together with counter weights to offset the balance.
On most homebuilt units the gimble system has caused a lot of problems.

Pookie, here is the response from them when i wanted to see the finished product(s):

"We do not post photos of equipment built with our plans because it is rare that two homebuilt rigs will look exactly alike.  One person's rig may be completely different from another's depending on the specific parts they choose to use, where they get their parts, or personal configurations they make to suit the user.  Obviously, the more skilled a person is in building, the more advanced and involved they will go with their rig.  Do you want an LCD monitor with a built in power source, back-mounted arm, and a fully functional gimbal?  Or do you just want something that's going to reduce a bit of shake?  Many factors determine how "professional" each individual goes with his or her rig.

We use photos of the popular and more expensive products in our ads for marketing purposes only—these are the items that filmmakers search for.  When their search results return, they see the expensive items that they may not be able to afford, as well as our guerilla filmmaking products as a cheap alternative to attaining similar shots.

We hope your concerns have been thoroughly addressed.  Happy filming to you!

Best regards,

Kind of what I thought they might say.
Personally, I'd want to show off what could be built if I was selling plans.
Sure hope they don't sell build it yourself boat plans.

Wow, that homebuilt stabilizer site is great. I also purchased Dan Selakovich's book a few months ago. It's called Killer Camera Rigs that You Can Build. It's available on his wesite: http://www.dvcamerarigs.com

I've built a few things out of that book. The stabilizer he shows you how to build is more like a glidecam, I think. The reason that I like his book is that it has very detailed, step by step instructions. He gives you a parts list for everything, and recommends alternatives for some of the parts. He will also e-mail you updates if somebody improves on one of his designs.
