Poor Jamie Foxx.
If only his agent had looked at the slate of films he had coming after Ray and said "You know what Jamie, there's a chance you might get an award or two for this one, lets pick something good for your next film, so that you don't pull a Berry." (Oscar-> Catwoman).
It wasn't in the cards. It's only a matter of time before we hear a commercial for Stealth "starring Academy Award Winner.... Jamie Foxx."
I think that criticizing movies after we've seen them is getting to be pretty predictable. We're good at it, so lets try something harder. The movies themselves are so predictable, lets critique them -before- we see them.
We do this anyway, but we do it in a very vague way, which is lazy, I think we should be more specific. It can't be hard, this forthcoming film is part 2001 part Wargames, so I'm going to go first:
The trick: to name 5 scenes/lines/or moments in the film that should've been left out, because they are cliched and played out, in addition to making a good guess at how it will end.
Dialogue Guesses:
1. "Are you telling me that that -MACHINE- is thinking on its own?"
2. "It's a computer, I don't care how you do it, turn it off!"
3. "It's faster, quicker, and smarter than us. It knows all of our strategies, all of our formations, and you want us to destroy it?"
3a. "You can't destroy it, that's a 45million dollar piece of Government Property."
(to which the hero says) "Bill me."
4. "It's like HAL with missiles."
5. The Hal/Stealth blows up a school or a plane.
Cynical Government Employee: Those are your tax dollars at work, gentlemen.
6. "Whoa.. it's jamming my controls!!"
7. (an easy one) "It's on me! I can't shake it!! [eject]" (NOOOOO!)
The end of the movie:
The screenwriter is 50 years old so I'm guessing he's going to run with a "This is why computers are inferior to people" ending. ALTHOUGH he's also one of the three credited screenwriters for Big Trouble in Little China which is one of the funniest movies of all time (seriously) but that might be because of Kurt Russell.
The AI stealth is defeated by one of the human protagonists (my money's on the highest billed, fairest skinned male) who tricks it by doing some move that "only a person would do", which is the same move that he used earlier in the movie, much to the chagrin of one of his commanding officers, who informed him that that move is "crazy" and could cause the plane to stall/blackout/crash/whatever.
either that or maybe just two planes will play chicken and the human pilot will take advantage of his ability to eject but that's just stupid.
