Steady Stick?

What do you guy's think of the steady stick, just as a cheap temporary alternative to purchasing a glidecam or steady shot. I know there is probably no comparison, but I was wondering if those things(steady stick) would work at all.

Also does anyone have a mic they would recomend?

It's not really meant for the same thing as a glidecam. It's more for giving you a steady shot while your standing still. It will work for that, but not for steadicam shots.

What's your budget for the mic?

Also, your message says that you love soup and the DVX-!00A. Just FYI.

So a steady stick turns you into a human tripod?
How good of a mic could 300-400$ get me?
