Steady Bag?

Re: Steady Bag?

I have a very simple one I made out of a large zippered heavy-duty cordura tote bag I snagged at a conference. I half-filled it with lentils :-). The good stuff--it works and I won't starve if i'm stranded somewhere. The hand straps are handy. The not so good--it's heavy and I've been too lazy to add straps like a Cinesaddle. Also, the shape is not optimal. But it works surprisingly well and is very fast to use.

Re: Steady Bag?

Yes, I still have my homemade cinesaddle from 1987 that I call the Lasater Lens Lounge... lol! 8)

It consists of a small to mid sized zippered nylon bag that I filled to about 80% full with styrene beads from an old beanbag chair.

Since I made it so long ago, I don't know if you can readily find such a simple bag anymore. The bag I used is a thin, soft nylon. It seems most of the gym bags I've seen these days have all kinds of straps, pockets, zippers, etc. all over the outside that may be obtrusive.

Head over to Wal Mart or a sporting goods store. You might be able to find a beanbag chair at a garage sale or buy a new one. Even after you pilfer enough styrene beads from the chair to make your Lasater Lens Lounge 8)... you'll still have enough to make the chair useful.

Happy shopping!
