Steadicam vs Glidecam

I'm looking for input from individuals who have experience using both systems - or to hear if there is a clear winner. I've been starting to think about purchasing a full vest system in order to provide those kinds of shots in both my personal film-making and professional video services. I live in a small city, north of Toronto, which is why I'm interested in learning the system myself as opposed to hiring. I'm a working professional - and I'm always open to learning new ways to provide visual media services.

My initial work has been in photography, so I have been shooting stills and video with the 5D Mark II.

I realize, through my inexperience, I may be asking the wrong question here. So, please feel free to fill me in on what you know - I have no experience with these systems, I'm simply aware of their value for getting certain shots!

Disclosure: I only have experience with Steadicam.

All I can tell you about the difference is resale value.

Steadicam is harder than it looks. Before you buy anything do some research. Have a look over at steadicamforum.com . I would say take a workshop, even if it's a 2 day flyer workshop. If you don't, you'll end up spending money on gear and then producing some very ordinary images (Even if you do, it takes more than a 2 day workshop to become "proficient" let alone really good or skilled). Steadicam brand gear is more expensive, and better than Glidecam.
