Steadicam tips needed (FS100 on Pilot on an autumn day :S)

Hi

The premise is some walking towards the camera steadicam shots. I'll be using my pilot as the client won't invest in heavier equipment, and the camera flown will be the FS100.
So far I've only had once experience outside on a windy day with it. I was practicing line dancing on a track and field stadium. The wind was only medium there but still grabbed the Pilot from the side a bit.

Is there anything more I can do besides extending the center post quite a bit? I not sure I can demand wind cover for the amount of walk we'll be doing (wide open space). I know it would be counter productive to grab the post firmly, but in this case would that be a necessary option?

We will be shooting wide angle, maybe even the 12mm adapter.
The end results should be something similar to this Kanye video:

Why can't you have someone just follow you around with a 4x double net as wind cover? Seems like that's what you really need...

Excellent idea, I read up on that and will most likely use that solution next time.

You know how the challenges sometimes just fix themselves while you're busy worrying about them, well the production team just called and said the production has been moved inside. So I won't have to worry about nature anyways. Now it's just lighting instead, but that should be doable.

thanks for your suggestion though.

Yeah, just so other people know the double net is a better way to go in most cases than a floppy or something solid since you won't just get blown right away. It'll just take out some of the wind. It also allows whoever is doing the wind block to see what they're doing and more importantly, what the Steadicam operator is doing.
