Steadicam Pilot battery solution...?

I've got the AA mount Steadicam Pilot. I just came across this product:
http://www.dolgin.net/VDoubler.htm

...it's the vDOUBLER VD-14 listed below (not the item at the very top of that page).

Anyway, it mentions that you can use that charger/adapter thing with an AB or V mount and standard camcorder batteries doubled up to provide 14.4V DC power.

So question...could this be used with the AB or V mount box on the Steadicam to provide power that is CHEAPER than an IDX or Anton Bauer battery+charger solution, but somewhat more handy than the AA battery solution? Only talking about powering the monitor on the sled, not necessarily the camcorder (HMC or DVX in my case).

Thoughts...? It seems like it might be a bit bulky, and probably would benefit from a little velcro strap reinforcement, but if I can use rechargable batteries that I already have and not have to swap out 10 AA or use separate AA cartridges...well, seems pretty nice. Especially at the price tag.

Hello scapsinger, I just came across your question. Let me point out that the vDoubler solution offers a lot of power to run a device like a HD monitor for many hours. It is roughly comparable to the AB Dionic 90 battery, when used with the DVXuser batteries. In your case it might be an overkill, as the Steadicam monitor is smaller; it does not use that much power. I would suggest you look at the -SPL solution (on the top of the page) which is less costly, and much lighter.

I've seen a thread about a guy who changed the AA option on the Pilot with a vDoubler-SPL but I don't remember which forum it was. It seems to be quite easy.
