steadicam merlin and dvx-100?

[matthewd5]

hello.

i just saw a neat demo of the steadi cam merlin over at dvcreators.com and they show it with the sony hdv camera.

has anyone tried this with the dvx-100?

it looks like it might be better designed than the current crop of stabilizers we have to choose from.

WOW! looks pretty promising. that said, how well would that do with a WA lens and a DVXuser battery? it all adds up. Perhaps there is someone out there who knows the exact weight of the DVX naked. the specs on the merlin says up to 5 lbs

a century .6x is 7 oz.

the merlin is $799 at bh.

Man someone should have gotten that camera man a steady cam merlin, I just loved when he zoomed into the LCD and twitched like he was high on crack.

[Alexa]

the whole clip made me a little confused and dizzy. whose video were supposed to be looking at and how to assess the merlin by looking at the LCD? That part was a little BULL.

[matthewd5]

well it wasn't exactly an official corporate sales pitch, seemed like it was just someone wandering around NAB taping people in their booths talking about their products.

that man is funny. but it looks like it works pretty darn well for something so light.

that man is funny.

That man happens to be "THE MAN".
