steadicam for HVX

Hey,

I really want to get a steadicam...who doesn't right? but does anyone have a good option for an affordable price, or is renting still the way to go. My pal has one of those balancing act ones where the camera flops all over the place depending on which way the mic cable goes, or when you change batteries, so that doesn't seem to work that well, any thoughts?

thanks,

David

Well right now a merlin is the way to go for affordable steadicam but if you want a vest and you want the price to be under 2000$ you would have to go with the smooth shooter from glidecam.

hey thanks, have you used these units? The merlin looks like it my friend's jr. rig, but the smooth shooter looks promising.

no but I have used the glidecam without support and the merlin seems allot better from what I've heard try searching, there are some people who have tried both.
