Stay With m2 or move to letus extreme?

HI everyone,

I have read all the wonderful reviews about the letus extreme and sounds like a reasonable upgrade(flip image,.5 stop loss..etc) . I am looking for any technical reasons previous M2 owners might say "you might want to stay with M2 because....."

Money is not really the issue even though I would rather not have 2 adapters, but anything I should be careful with the letus or might be giving up from the M2.

Thank for your time in advance,

I've had a chance to used both and in my opinion the M2 simply cannot compete with the Letus Extreme. It's difficult to set up properly, sharpness is hit and missed and light loss is huge. And of course for the same price it's a non-flipped solution. It would work fine on one shoot and then a few months later I simply was not able to get proper focus on the ground glass (with the same camera) and there were noticeable vignetting no matter what adjustments I make. It's a completely mystery. I've seen plenty of decent footages shot with the M2 on here, so I guess the adapter works well when it works. But the difference when I moved to the Extreme was immediately apparent, and the M2 just isn't worth the hassel in my opinion.

i've had the same experience as jade.i bought the m2 to use on a very important shoot and wind up not being able to use it and had to use the stock lens of my camera.when you can get it to function right i think it looks beautiful but how many novices are willing to build take that chance.i bought the lex and its probably the best adapter i've used in terms of sharpness and loss of light.buy the lex you won't regret it.

No question - the Letus Extreme is the one to get. I have the M2, SgPro, and the Letus. If you care about sharpness and a device that you don't have to constantly tweak - then this is the way to go.

I've had my M2 for a year and a half and I fine tuned it to the point where it's always edge to edge focus and the focus marks on the lenses are right on. I also have a battery mod so it's easy to chang the battery. That said I still upgraded to the LE. I just got it a few days ago, so I only had time to mess with it a little. A few things I've noticed so far is 1/500 shutter speed is pushing it with the LE, where as the M2 can do 1/1000 at 60fps all day and you won't see the grain. Also it's more difficult to set up than my M2 (it's a lot easier than a stock M2 though). I'm going to retest the shutter speeds with fresh batteries and I have a solution for an easy set up in the works. As soon as my rig is complete I'll post pictures.

So far I still think I made the right decision to get the LE. The only thing I'm loosing is some shutter speeds, and gaining more light and a rightside up image is worth it to me.
