"STATIC" noise Hits in the audio...

I have been having some issues with my Lectrosonics wireless lately. Its mainly when someone has the Lavalier clipped on them and they have the transmitter clipped to the back of their jeans or wherever. If the person is walking or doing any kind of movement, I would hear a static noise hit that comes and goes almost like the battery is about to die. I always put a fresh battery in there right before a shoot. So I know its not that. It sounds like my audio signal is interferring with another signal somewhere else possibly. I have heard these static hits on other shoots as well. The kind of Lectrosonics I have only has 1 channel. I cannot switch it to another channel.

Now like I said I only notice this with the BODY PACK. The bodypack has a small antenna on it about 3.5 inches long. That might need to be replaced, not sure.

I do need to upgrade my wireless at least to something where I can switch to another channel.

If anyone knows what I am talking about and can suggest some things to check out or how to fix the problem all together please share your thoughts.

The model number is UCR190 (Lectrosonics Receiver)

UM190B (Body pack)

Another thought here is when I remove the antenna from the body pack. I don't hear the static as often but when I attached the antenna back to the body pack I hear all kinds of static so the problem could be that antenna. I hear the static with or without it though.

Also try something to insulate the antenna from the body. A plastic bag will work if it doesn't make too much noise itself.

Cheers

Also make sure your batteries are really "new". There was some talk on RAMPS a little while back about 9V batteries that are not sealed airtight losing a lot of their charge while sitting unused. But, given what you said about the antenna, that sounds like a probable cause...
