static adapters

Re: static adapters

Actually the fresnel is used in the 35mm adapters for the same purpose as its used in a 35mm SLR: To reduce the hot spot effect on the GG. However a simple field lens can do the same job but with even better optical quality. The fresnel were created to save weight and space for optics and thus were a good choice for small SLR viewfinders BUT you dont want to use fresnels for any imaging system that you hope to record - if you have a choice. Thats why most have done away with using a fresnel in their 35mm adapter and replaced it with one or two field lenses. (also known as a plano-convex lenses)

Good luck.
