Man... I was over at my parents' house tonight and they never pitch anything. It's freaky memory lane.

My oldest brother came into some money at the very bleeding edge of video editing at home. We're talking about 16 years ago! He had dual Sony 3/4" decks... a Powermac 840AV... and of course THIS:

This beauty was 4 gigs of simultaneous video read and write power! Yes that's right kids... (4) 1 gig hard drives and this thing could read all 4 drives at the same time! This even had a GIANT neon orange sticker on it that said it was a felony to export this thing because the technology was SO cutting edge! You wouldn't want this thing to end up in the middle east that's for sure!

Check out the back view:

Oh man I'm wiping the tears... this thing was around $5K or so! Do you believe that!? Golly Jeez that's funny. His total system was pushing $20K!!! And you know what? Not ONE THING on it happened in real time! Even NORMAL video required a render after you added ANY transition! But this was way better then running the two Sony 3/4" decks...

Oh man... are you feeling lucky as sh*t right now? You should be! I actually fought with this crap back in the day... and that's what it was... a really long fight for every video.

Maybe a couple of you guys will get as big a kick out of this picture as I did picking this thing up again... Oh and as for the Powermac that cost around $9K? I smashed that thing WITH A SLEDGEHAMMER... so see? The story goes full circle.:cheesy:

That'd make me laugh more if it didn't remind me of the $1100 I once spence on a 32 MB DIMM. :D

i once bought a 386 acer because i thought i would be able to talk to it. i was wrong.

mcshyd... you are funny as sh*t... I wish you posted more. (I laugh at your posts a lot)

Hey I remember when I bought my FIRST pc around the same time my brother bought all this crap... he specifically told me to pick out the very best pc I could afford and then get the next one up.

I think it was a 110 Pentium for around $3200... oh man I'd laugh if that didn't just start a massive heart-attack.

There was nothing worse then making payments on a computer for 2 years and nine months after it was obsolete.
