State of Emergency (DVX short film)

EDIT: For some weird reason the embedding doesn't work, so here's the direct link: http://www.vimeo.com/13703164

Our second to last movie shot with the good old DVX. Still have one more movie shot with it coming out later this year and then it's time to put the old friend to it's well earned retirement and move to the mad world of HDSLR.

We shot this last winter. Spent 4 days for filming it and about 2 months for the post work (Yeah, we're slow :)). It was shot with our good old Panasonic DVX-100 with an anamorphic adapter (apart from the few additional scenes we bought from stock footage companies). We got the jib (don't remember the model, but it was a very nice ABC jib) from HELTECH who were kind enough to lend it to us. The movie was lit with worklights and a cheap on camera LED light. Total budget for it was about 150 euros, most of it went to the few stock footage clips. All feedback would be much appriciated. Thanks for watching!

It wouldn't load in the DVXuser posting, but I watched it directly at Vimeo (http://www.vimeo.com/13703164). Nice short. Didn't expect that last part, but that's positive. The lighting in the scenes with the young woman was somewhat soapopera (everything has the same amount of it), and maybe the darkness/atmosphere of the story could have had benefits from less overall light and more specific light. (I am not an expert of pro, this is just my newbe impression.)

Checked your site too. The Birth of Marginal Films is fantastic (for the reader: that's not a movie but a page). And recognizable.

Thanks for the feedback! We tried to get a soft winter morning light to the interior scenes, to make a bit of contrast over the bad news on TV. Indeed I guess it went a bit over board as we only had two 1kw worklights bounced from the ceiling and walls. Maybe a bit less light would have been better.

And sorry about the site, all but one of the movies are not subtitled so they're not much use for anyone other than Finns. We're trying to get the rest subtitled too.
