Guys,

I'll be purchasing a pair of DVX100a's soon for production of a new outdoor series. My locations will be on boats on the open ocean and backcountry big game hunting. I'm an old Beta guy and realize the need for some sort of support system while going to the 100's. I have read your opinions on the DVRig, but am also wondering if anyone has experience with Anton Bauer's Stasis power support system. How would they compare considering my locations.

Thanks for the input !!

Re: Stasis Rig ??

I checked out the Stasis system before buying the DVRig Pro. The Stasis is a lighter rig and has less hardware, but is not nearly as good as the DvRigPro. The Stasis won't balance like the DvRig and lacks the whole smooth tilting platform design. The big control handles on the DVRig are a joy, while the Stasis strangely has no handle at all for control. The DvRig is not light or small, but it provides a very smooth, stable, and adjustable camera platform. The spring loaded front support of the DVRig may help absorb some of the up and down motion of a fast moving boat--it damps some of the rythmic motion of walking.

I've looked at all of them and tried most of them. Fortunately Peter Lisand Corp. just came out with a slick new one for small cameras. It's nice... we have one. I showed it at a meeting of video professionals and three people ended up buying them. I've written magazine reviews on other PLC models, and they are always open to input from any user. They now have a longer handle that I asked for so I could mount a Zoe control to it so it's like the expensive Peter Lisand model we have for our full sized cameras.

If you don't know who Peter Lisand Corp is they are the people that make all the support rigs that all the major networks use. CNN bought several hundered at once.
