As this is the Cafe and that SW post got some hits and we're a year out from episode 3 and 3 months from the DVD set...

Thought I'd treat you all to something from last year. Nothing to do with DVX. Shot on my D8 TRV730.

Shot and edited (not effects) one Sunday afternoon in about 2 hours. Alex had the idea and off we went. The first time I showed this to my Mom she went nuts... "you did WHAT to his WHAT????" You'll see... anyway, enjoy.

You think Lucas will have another film contest?

Man, I need DSL or something!!! Two hours EACH for those movies!! Aargh! TwoBoys are going to have to go without gummies when we move to San Francisco and I'M GETTING A CABLE MODEM! 3K/sec my butt! Just pulled it down here at work at 1.9m/sec!!

Too good, keep using the boys and maybe they they'll make it big on day.

Re: StarWars - Return of the TwoBoys

very cute! :D

It looks like you have a slomo shot in there when one of the boys runs back towards the front yard to get the lightsaber out of the tree? Am I right? How did you do this?

Re: StarWars - Return of the TwoBoys

SlomoShot -- Ahh yes, the Shrek shot!! I just dropped the speed for that one clip down -- I forget where I set it... maybe 40% or 60%?? -- anyway my NLE handles it fine.

I've got a blooper reel from that that is really a hoot too. It made Alex, the older one, realize that films aren't really made "in-real-time." Everytime he sees this he always comments "hey, remember when I fell down there... couldn't use THAT in the movie."

Thanks for viewing!!

Re: StarWars - Return of the TwoBoys

really?

It looked smoother than I was expecting if it was just slowed down in FCP HD. I haven't messed with the new speed controls in HD yet, so maybe it's better than it used to be. How does it look full-res? Maybe it's the compression?

Re: StarWars - Return of the TwoBoys

I think this was even done in version 3. It's been a while. FCP handles 30i slowmo very well -- craps out on 24p though. Oh -- I'd have to check the original file, but I think I threw a few percent blur on it too.

Re: StarWars - Return of the TwoBoys

CaptM that is awesome! Your boys are so cute! What software did you use for the light saber effect? Did you just track the stick and then put glow on it?

Re: StarWars - Return of the TwoBoys

Kyle -- After Effects' -- Lightning Effect. That's Frame-by-Frame, baby!! LOL... I had NO clue how to do that so like I said, I had two favorite effects set up one blue and one green and just tracked both sides frame by frame. Only took about an hour to do.
