Starting a production company

Hey guys,

I've had the idea for my own little production company in my head for quite some time.
What are the pitfalls? What NOT to forget? How to start?
Just wondering what your ideas are about starting you own business.

Thanks alot!

BTW, I'll mainly be focusing on serving the business world...

(1) Reliable equipment. Preferably equipment you own and to which you have 24/7 access.

(2) Reliable people. Like stephenlnoe sez, you can't do it alone.

(3) A rate schedule. Don't decide your billing policy during your meeting with the client.

(4) Insurance, both for your equipment and people, and liability.

(5) A business plan.

(6) A demo reel.

(7) A web site. It's not intrinsically necessary, but it *is* a useful marketing tool if well-constructed. And it's cheap.
