hey, any advice on starting a magazine publication? i've been in the talks with a partner, and we have come up with this idea. it would cover entertainment to lated tech. (mostly entertainment though) :) it would probably cover bi-season, instead of monthly or every 6 months. we plan on using mosty indie people for all the feautures and highlights. any ideas or things we should look out for that could harm us?

Look out for any similar publications in the area. I know a guy who started an entertainment magazine in my area called Static (http://www.freestaticonline.com). There was a similar publication that sued his ass. I don't exactly remember on what grounds, but he eventually won. It took a lot of time and money in court, though.

Man, that's very courageous of you! I hope you have a particular angle/slant/style that will distinguish your mag from the rest. I was a professional reporter for a few years, was a staff writer for New Times and did some freelance for Hispanic Magazine and CommonQuest. I'd like to hear more about your publication, maybe even contribute.
