Starter Lighting Kit

Hey guys.

Been browsing these forums for months and only now decided to join. So.. Greetings!, my name is Jon. I'm an aspiring actor and filmmaker. Live in Montreal and im 19.

kk so ive got the whole shabbang at home. gunna be purchasing a dvx100b soon, have some photo lights, AT835b shotgun mic and im ready to bump up my lighting.

so what im looking for is a reasonably priced lighting kit.

question 1) what price ranges are we looking at? ( hopefully the 500 area or less, if they are more expensive, post them too please)

2) what companies?

The lights are made by Britek, and bunch of companies offer them in low-priced kits, including rostronics.com and 1080av.com

I paid $575 USD plus Tax & Shipping to get the ligths from California, but they are great lights. You have the option of running 2 x 1000w and 1 x 650w lights with either Barndoors or Softboxes. The package comes with everything: stands, bulbs and spares, gels, filters, etc.

Just a word....read up on some of the posts around here regarding the 1080av.com site before you send them any cash.

I've read the stuff about 1080av.com and saferseas.com but are we actually "sure" that they are the same? I paid, had great correspondence from 1080av.com and got my lights quickly. I had absolutely no issues.
