This is an oldie but a goodie. Back in the day I made these Star Wars Spoofs in anticipation of the Special Editions that were coming in 97. Here's a rundown of the gags in the scenes:

Scene 1: Desert Reading
- Flintstones Dinosaur in the background
- troopers pick up a magazine with George Lucas on the cover

Scene 2: Homer on the Range
- Graffiti on building
- Homer Simpson

Scene 3: Club Obi-Won
(This is actually the name of the club at the beginning of Temple of Doom)
- Sign outside says Club Obi-Won
- Greeted by Raptor from Jurassic Park
- Mars Attack Alien amongst other alien musicians
- Medallion behind Solo is from Indiana Jones
- Greedos Gun
- Greedo gets punched
- Terminator sitting in the shadows
- Forest Gump at the Bar

Scene 4: Jabba gets deflated
- Indian Jones shoots Jabba

Scene 5: Forrest of Ewoks
- Forest Gump running with Ewoks

Scene 6: Darth Vaders True Colors
- Delorean in background (with reflections might I add)
- James Earl Jones behind Mask (from Field of Dreams)
- Warped a smile onto Luke.

Enjoy,

Bob

Thanks Rich. Don't forget the Aliens from Mars Attack too.

Unbelievably cool. What did you do most of the work with? After Effects? Did you roto all that stuff?
Loved it!

Thanks THX1138,

It was done on Discreets Inferno, and yes it was all roto'ed. This is before DVDs, so I captured the clips from laserdiscs. The scenes with Jabba were scanned from magazines and warped in Inferno.

Heh, that was great stuff! I was trying to look for flaws but couldn't really find any. Any chance you got a current demo reel? you got compositing skills man!

Awesome man, no more words!!! i nearly spill... forget it, my breakfast is all around the place. I thought it wasnt gonna be so good and you suprise me very much!

bgundu,

I assume you are working on both platforms? I noticed you have a .mac page, so I figured you were on a mac, but if memory serves, Inferno is only available on the Windows platform.

I'm just starting to cut my teeth on Shake. Do you have any experience with it?

Back in 96-97 when I did these clips, there wasn't much in the world of high-end compositing software. Not even on a PC's. Back in those days, Alias and Discreet software only ran on SGI systems. Inferno still only runs on Onyx systems. Back in the day the hardware and software to run Inferno would easily add up to a million bucks. After Effects was begining to make some inroads though. When I began to work at Alias in 97, we were preparing our first release ever of 3D software on the Windows platform. It was Maya, and now is also available on the Mac. I love the mac and do my compositing work with Shake as well as Combustion. The Combustion interface is still very similar to Inferno. I look forward to NAB where Shake is supposed to have a new release.
