Star Wars: Episode VII to be shot on 35mm film

You're teasing me. This is good news for the nostalgic. Now, please, please, please tell me they're going to use miniatures instead of CGI and I'll buy my ticket right now...

The stages that originally filmed the model effects are still around. It's no longer called ILM, but its there. http://www.32ten.com/

I've sent them a note on your desires.

I just hope JJ doesn't fill the film with disorientating handheld shots and really quick pans. Star Trek almost gave me motion sickness along with the lens flairs.

Well, that is part of what he likes, but as an artist, I hope he recognizes the need to change styles in order to serve the story and not himself. I think if he does that, he will realize the visual vernacular established in the first three films from the 70's and 80's (New Hope- RotJ) is not like that at all, and perhaps we will see something that is less so.

But who knows. He doesn't owe Star Wars anything. In fact, besides the questionable transitions, even Lucas let the reins go on the prequels, so who's to say what anyone will do.

A lot of people are very happy about this. I don't mind Abrams, but I wouldn't be a fan of the nonstop lens flares in this new movie.
