Stanley Kubrick: A Life In Pictures (wow!)

Whether you love him or hate him (is that possible?), after watching this documentary and witnessing his artistic and creative passion and perfectionism at work, you have to respect him as a filmmaker, and quite possibly you'll be utterly blown away, which I was. I always appreciated his work but knew very little about his personal history and his approach to making films. This was a great documentary and the commentary from his peers (Scorsese, Spielberg, Allen, etc), only added to the awe.

I picked up a copy of it off of eBay for $9.00 (including shipping)!

Now I have to watch 'Barry Lyndon' and 'Lolita', which I haven't actually seen yet (for those of you who are Kubrick fans, that probably sounds like a crime that I haven't seen then yet)

Tks Shawn

I didnt know this was available and will now look for it as I too no nothing about the man (Not a fan of his work).

I highly recommend it as I wasn't a fan either, I mean, '2001' was definitely interesting, 'Eyes Wide Shut' was interesting, and 'Clockwork Orange' was... well, I actually saw it only once probably around 1977, and seeing how I was only 12 at the time I could probably benefit from another viewing, though it surely had an impact as a radically different film from anything I had seen up until that point!

Very good doc -

He is a lot different then I would have expected.

that was exactly what I thought too. Somehow I had formed some ideas about who Kubrick was without really knowing much about him beyond the films he made ( imagine that, us humans doing making judgments without all the facts, sad but true, I guess I still do it, hopefully less as time goes on!) ;-)

It's a great doc...

To be honest, it did take me three or four tries before I was able to sit through "Barry Lyndon".
