So how has NBC improved the viewability of 1080i in this seasons playoffs?
Last year the 1080i stuff was painful to watch...fast motion and interlace did not mix well. This year it looks great ! What did they do to fix it?

I actually thought it looked bad last night. Motion was fine, but the whites looked gray and washed out. On the other hand, hockey on VS and Fox Sports looks great to me. Who knows...could be our signal providers?

FWIW, I watched some MLB on my new Panny plasma via OTA...by far, the cleanest signal I've seen for TV. I really believe that cable and satellite signals get dirtied up a lot before they get to homes. Getting a direct OTA signal seemed to help immensely.

I watched the cup finals last year (NBC 1080i) as well as the Super Bowl (ABC 720p) both ota on a lcd and the 720 looked clean and held up to fast motion...the 1080i was clean and looked great until there was fast movement. Nothing new or unanticipated there.

This year on the same ota lcd setup, the 1080i held up well with fast motion...something on the broadcast end changed. I was curious if anybody was privy to the adjustments made by the broadcasters.
