SSD drive - better as system or media???

I recently bought an external 500GB SSD drive and I intended it to be used as a media drive for current projects thinking it would be way faster than my CalDigit USB drive... and it is (CalDigit gets like 135 read/write and SSD gets way over 300 for both using Blackmagic Speed Test), BUT I am not really seeing a big increase in renders, or general
work flow speed. There is some gain but not what I was hoping for.

Would I be better served using it as a system drive?

The choke point for renders is typically going to be your CPU or GPU and unless the footage you are using is maxing out your HDD speed then you won't see any boost going to a faster drive. For example, if you car (your footage) can only go 90mph it doesn't matter if the speed limit is 135mph or 300mph.

You will certainly see a speed boost if booting, app loading, etc., if you make the SSD your boot drive.

Thanks guys - that seems to be the option of choice.

ps - Love Lenny Bruce - watched your trailer and added the doc to my queue.
