squeeze mode question..and vignetting on external monitor

I thought when you choose squeeze mode that it would fill up the entire LCD and look "squeezed" (somewhat distorted). But my DVX100b is putting it out with the black bars exactly like widescreen mode.

Also, I noticed that when I attach my external monitor I can see vignetting (like I would need to zoom in more to get rid of it), however I do not see this vignetting on my LCD monitor on the camera. Do I go with what the external monitor is showing or am I good with what the LCD camera monitor is showing.
