I need some serious help. I can't find a squeaky sound anywhere. I need a sound of a person cleaning off a window. It needs to sound cheap. Like from a cartoon. I would really appreciate the help. I found one here, but it sounded nothing like a squeak. Thanks!
Your best bet is recording one. One of the problems (with all SFX) is what do you WANT it to sound like. You said window cleaning but then you said cartoon. So that sound could range from little (more realistic) squeaks to big fingernails on the blackboard screeches. So it's near impossible for someone to point you in a direction till you explain what YOU want to hear.
This is also the problem with folks trying to used unmodified tracks off any commercial library no mater how complete they weren't recording based on what YOU need so they almost always need help.
Water and some paper-towels and a window is a good start. Paint thinner squeaks more, a razor blade dragged across squeaks even more.
needed the same glass squeak for a project once and hit the same problem - much easier to just record one yourself. I think we ended up with spit on glass. Worked perfectly. Made it easy to get the squeaking to match the exact motion too.
A cork rubbed on glass might give you the effect you need.
You usually have to try a number of corks to find the best
squeaker. Don't build up your cork collection with one sitting
unless you are at a big party.
