Square? Non-Square

k I thought I understood it but now I'm totally confused. So I import some DV from my DVX at 720 x 480 right? But then when I export it - the current options give me 640x480, NTSC 640x480 and all of the presets in FCP export at 640x480 even though it says DV 720x480. So I launch the final movie in Quicktime Movie Player and to me it looks strecthed vertically. I can custom export at 720x480 and it seems to look right but i'm not sure. But then there's the "Show as Square pixel" thing. I know computer monitors are square pixels. Everything I'm exporting is for display on the web/other computer monitors.

Why am I totally lost? help! thanks. I just need to export DV at full res for view on web/computer monitors.

It sounds like something is wrong in your sequence setup.
You shouldn't be exporting at 640 x 480

Your export should be DV NTSC 48Khz (which is 720 x 480)

yeah... that's what i thought. But, i didn't even move this stuff to the sequence. Try it... export and pull down DV NTSC 720x480 and it will squish it to 640x480. I don't get it. But, cool, i'm entering custom numbers 720x480. thanks.
