Tyson Gay beats Tommie Smith's record for the straight 200m. (Gay wins straight?... er... anyway).
So from 1966 until NOW Tommie Smith's record holds... and now... ON A SPECIALLY BUILT TRACK(?)... his record is broken by... how much? .09 seconds... yes, 9 hundredths of a second... on a specially built track.
Smith set his record on a track like you ran in high school... if you went to a poor one... to say nothing of contrasting shoe technology
I hope this isn't considered too controversial... but I wonder if the record books will offer any perspective on these records?
Just like home runs in baseball... Ruth > Maris > Aaron > everybody else*
