Splitting the Audio from the board to the camera

I am gearing up to shoot an event in a few weeks. The audio company has agreed to give me my own mix and run a hard line cable out to my camera location from the board. Now if I split the audio at the camera location and have one cable going to the camera and another cable go to my Zoom H4N audio recorder as a backup, would that do anything to the audio, meaning would I lose quality having it split instead of going directly to the camera?

Thanks!

If you do it properly, then you will not suffer any degradation of the audio quality. That is the generic answer to your generic question.

If you want to reveal exactly how you plan to "split" you audio feed, we could advise on whether it is likely to succeed.

how about a mult?

I have an XLR splitter at work where I can take an IFB line out of our production van and feed 2 IFB boxes (one for talent and the other for camera operator) by using a splitter. So in terms of the shoot I am about to do if I run an XLR from the board to a splitter then from the splitter run one XLR to the camera and the other to the Zoom H4N for backup recording, I just wanted to know would I be hurting the audio quality any?
