splitting previously rendered .wmv files

Is their a way to split a previously rendered .wmv file in Vegas an not have to re-render the files again?

I have project I'm working on for a friend and he can only handle 100MB files so I want to chop the already rendered project into manageable file sizes but it looks like I'll have to render each segment all over again so I hope I'm missing something obvious...

I would imagine that every time you render you lose a little as it's recompressing, no?

I tried a freeware/shareware product but it didn't handle creating headers (or lead-in info) properly for the chopped files so only the first file was playable.

Handle how? You mean editing & such, or receiving them from you (via email or something)?

If the latter, there are utilities "out there" that can split files into smaller chunks, then put them back together again. (Even something like WInZip probably does it...for ZIPping across floppies...but you don't have to same the files to a floppy...)

I want my friend to be able to play each of the split files separately, so basically what I'm looking for is a way to take the larger (already rendered .wmv file), drop it into Vegas or another utility, and have it split the files, but also write the header/lead-in info so each file can be actually be played in a media player without having to be put back together.

So, it looks like what I really need as a way to FAST render the files over again... but that sounds like an oxymoron, "fast render", ha! ;-)

i actually need to do the same exact thing right now with some interview footage. i use cool edit pro for audio and in that software i can chop up a wave file and save each of the individual pieces as different waves without having to mixdown/render. is it possible to do this with video?
