Split Headphone Output?

Hey Guys,
I wanted to see if a simple 1/4" Y-Cable would work with the DVX100a. I'd like to have one for the Sound person (Boom op really, no mixer) and one for the camera (to make sure the sound is getting on the tape). While we're at it, is a three way split possible (for the director)? I'd be using Sony Pro Headphones (MDR 7506). Sorry if this is a silly question, I don't currently have this stuff in my posession and I know there's been a few issues with the headphone output. Also, any drawbacks to doing this(lower output, unsynched)? Thanks.

never do it , not only the headphone out is a total crap but aditional connectors might make pops in your booman ear, not to mention i am not sure the output would drive 3 headphones in normal level
you can split from direct outs with small headphone preamp ( boostaroo or similar)

Thanx Exile. That's what I thought. After I posted, I found out my roommate has a Rolls Headphone splitter/preamp. I didn't even know they existed! Thanks for your help.

The boosteroo has a striking resemblance to the Radio Shack headphone amp which is pretty terrible. Hopefully they just have some similarity in their appearance and not the sound. If Exile is recommending it, I'm assuming the quality is fine. Maybe they use different components. The Behringher MiniMon looks interesting but as far as I can tell has only external power which could be a problem for those on the run. I've had success with some Behringher stuff, but the reputation is sometimes iffy. For something like this though, might be just fine.
