hey im building the cd player/ spinning 35mm adapter and i was wondering if it mattered how far away from the gg i put the macro...

most people have used 2 inch thick enclosures but radio shack only had a 3 inch one so i got that....

do i want the macro to be close to the gg or far?

i can always cut teh project box so shorten the distance...

ALSO, DOES ANYONE HAVE AN EXTRA FROSTED DUMMY CD????

i sanded a plain one lightly with fine sand paper and it came out okay... anyone have an extra premade one???

hi zipper,

normal distance from gg to camcorder is between 30 - 50mm its not that important. Depends on your camcorder model. If you have a camcorder with lens thread smaller then 43mm you wont need a macro at all.

Fix a 35mm dia slide to the wall. Distance from camcorder to dia slide 30-50mm and try to zoom in just enough to fit the whole viewfinder/LCD with the dia slide. If you can focus on the dia slide without problems take the measured distance and use it in your dof adapter.

best regards
Daniel

cool thats really helpful...

another thing i noticed as i put it together...

when i was checking the diy it said to assemble the 35mm lense and the gg and then point it at a far away object, IE tree building etc...
i did that and the image that it projected onto my gg is weird...

i see the whole image, but there is a circle of it, (the same size as the back glass of the lense) that is seen in my image...

will that circle go away when i put it in the project box and close it up?

I hope I understand what you are asking, the lens is projecting the image in a circle shape, instead of the rectangle you were expecting? You'll just zoom into it and only record a rectangular portion of that circle.

If you have a canon Hv20 and trying to make a Spinning adapter, do i need the macro on that? I mean, i think it's a 43mm lens
