Spider-Man 3 Thread

I thought this was going to be the last spiderman movie. I heard 3 ties up all loose ends and what not.
from some interviews I read Sam said he would like to do more (which he got sony to sign and they did for 4, 5, and 6! wow) then tobey said he'd only do anohter if it was a good storyline and Sam was with it. Kristen said she would only come back only if tobey and sam were with it. So maybe we will see a sequal after this that is worth seeing.

But i haven't even seen the 3rd one yet so after I see the 3rd one i'll know for sure if they need to do a 4th or not.

Just went to the theater here in Wilmington. It's playing on six screens at the midnight show.

All sold out.

I'm home now from trying.

It's still 10 minutes from the show time, which tells you about how long ago I tried.

Six screens.

In a town of 90,000.

With a theater on the other side.

I'm still waiting for the next batman installment. He could kick spidey's a$$ every day of the week and twice on sundays.

Don't want to start a flame war...it's just how I feel.

Just got back from seeing it and, unfortunately, if you're expecting it to be better than 1 & 2 then you're going to be disappointed. It was a mess. Not only that, but a looooong mess.

The producers knew they had a sure thing so I guess they just threw all they could at the camera and figured some of it might stick. Sad really.

So what's next for the Summer of the Sequels? Pirates of the Caribbean 3? Bring it on!!! Maybe it will help me forget the mess I just witnessed.

Yes...PK is right. Its all too much.

I think I was most disappointed by the action scenes. Most of the shots and camera movements were so rediculous it was hard to follow or believe. I'm getting tired of all this cg greenscreen virtual camera computerized bullshit. Whipping up the most insane thing you can imagine in previz does not make it a good shot that works for the scene. I'm disappointed in Sam Raimi.

I wasnt blown away by anything. Even watching previews for the upcoming movies like pirates 3 or fantastic 4.2 didnt get me excited. It seems like nothing is exciting or interesting lately. The only thing I'm looking forward to now is Cameron's Avatar and Zemekis' Beowulf. I know thats all CG too....but its done in a different way....and in 3-d. If those dont end up doing well....i dunno. Perhaps this era of big blockbusters is starting to come to an end. I kind of hope so....it has to happen sometime for progress to be made.

anyway as for spiderman again....For me the parts I liked most were the comedic sections. And even though I liked the funny parts...i think they hurt the movie overall. Its just too goofy at times to be taken seriously as a whole.

Overall a disappointement. Spiderman 1 & 2 were far better on all levels. I kind of think this movie may ruin the franchise. I don't know where they go from here.....it was just too rediculous.

I watched on on Tuesday on the 1st of May. I love it, it's fun, it's funny, it's sad, and it concluded the story arc nicely. But when the credit rolls, I was saying to myself how this movie will be one some will like and some will hate.

Fans of the first and second movie will enjoy the third one. Those that never did quite like the first and second movie will find more reasons not to like the third movie.

It's definitely a lot of stuff happening but unless you have the attention span of a brick wall it's nothing hard to follow. The pacing is fast and there are lots of easter eggs and Raimi eye candy. The actions sequences are some of the craziest I have ever seen. The CGI has improved to the point where I have trouble telling which one is CG. The last segment is just CRAZY!!! And Venom looks AMAZING!!!

It's hardly a mess. If you want mess, watch recent Japanese or Korean horror, now those are a mess.

The comedic section bothers quite a few people, some find it annoying and some find it overdone. I thought it was pretty clear as to why Raimi did it that way and it works to me (but I will not discuss this now as this movie is still not out in lots of places).

I left the cinema feeling sad that it will be a while before we see another Spidey movie again but I am praying hard the same team will be back for the fourth movie. It will be hard to watch a fourth movie with different director or casts.

If you are a Spidey fan, you will definitely want to watch it.

Saw the midnight screening last night. I won't say I'm disappointed because I'm not that big a geek.

It is fun and funny, but it's not better than Spidey 2, IMO.

The third act was what tanked it for me. It's not Batman and Robin, but it's a little too much at the end. To me, Spider-man always had a ton of stuff going on in his life, so if he kicked the Vulture's ass at lunch and then tangled with someone else that night, that was cool to me, but I've never liked "team-ups."

The best parts are as good as the best of the first two, the worst parts are far worse than anything previously in the series.

The third act is a mess of epic proportions. And the last fight scene is actually boring. Venom is a disaster.

Oh well.

Went to the midnight screening. I thought it was awful. Seriously one of the worst movies I've seen in a while.

Plus I had a 7 AM call time this morning.... man, what a big mistakes that was, on so many levels.

What do you get when you take some over the top action, add 5 parts melodrama, fold in a bunch of cheese, way too many coincidences and mix them all together without any regard for continuity?

You guessed it, Spiderman 3.

If you want to know what went wrong with this movie, just IMDB the writer of the first Spiderman and compare it to the writer of 2 and espescially 3.

You can't create talent -- no matter how deep your pockets are.

And can somebody please tell Sam to keep his geeky mug behind the camera.

Just got back from seeing it. It's still a damn entertaining film, but I guess you can have too much of a good thing. Sam Raimi is obviously desperate to recreate the same heroic uplifting scenes from the second film, but failed just as hard. There was a lot of snickering and guffawing in the audience that I saw it with, on scenes that I'm pretty sure Raimi didn't intend to be funny. After the 20th shot of bystanders clapping for Spiderman, it just become a sad joke. A lot of lines wanted to be deep but come across as cartoonish.

Special effects aren't as good; I can easily tell the transition between CGI and the real shots.

Would I recommend the film? Yes. I was entertained for two and a half hours.

Man, I loved it! I had a hell of a good time, as did the crowd I saw it with.
It really smacked of Raimi, which I love.
I love the emotional center of the film and especially the theme of forgiveness and redemption.

Thumbs up from me!

I just saw this. I really enjoyed most of the movie. I actually really liked the comedic parts. What killed it for me was the over the top emotional ending. Spiderman turned into Frodo in the ending. I actually started laughing when Tobey Maguire's lip started quivering. And I'm a sensitive guy. If it ended at two hours in I would have liked it alot more.

Saw it today. Was awesome movie! Loved the whole storyline. That's what I like about the spiderman movies is the storylines. They all have a great storyline. The action at the end was good! (Spoilers) Was pretty cool when harry came in and helped spidey out. And I liked how they showed what really happened to uncle ben. Over all liked it and will be seeing again sometime later.

This thread is awesome... I love how much everyone was unanimously anticipating this film... and as of the first post on the day the movie came out we are polarized.

My nephew is a very forgiving movie-goer... usually he has to say something was incredible for me to go on recommendation... and he did not like this one at all.

I saw Spidey 2 twice last time... but I had to leave the theater on the second viewing because the audience included children that were totally ruining it for me.

There are several DVXuser members that I indentify with... and I guess I'll see this after the opening week crowds die down... or maybe even on DVD.

Anybody else blown away by it? If I don't go see this tomorrow then I have to come up with new plans...

I guess they spent like 200 million on These CG effects, but they all look like they did them in like MSpaint...

haha miniman. that's what i've been saying for years. where is this fx money going to again? are you sure it's the fx?

what kind of world do we live in where american movies now open overseas before they open in our own country??? oh, I guess it's because of "piracy". Well, if you want to avoid me pirating your movie, open it here first. thanks.

i remember reading something where the studio told M. Night Shamalyn he could have $60 million and do whatever he wanted to do with it on a movie and they wont ask questions as long as he didnt do Lady in the Water.

I say that to say this: how do we know some of the big boys arent padding their pockets? :)

and i'm sure tobey is getting at least $20 million this go round if not more.

This is the 3rd Spiderman I've seen in the theatre, but definitely the first time I heard snickering and laughing at parts that weren't supposed to be funny.
This is the worst film I have seen in awhile. No fun at all.

It belongs with Batman and Robin, and Superman 4:The Quest For Peace.
