Spelling

Sad Max

Artful Dodger
Is it too much for me to ask, that my graphic designer actually know how to spell, capitalize and punctuate the words and sentence he's putting in fifteen-inch-high bright yellow letters, on a sign that has to play right now at set?

Apparently it is.

And lo and behold, the UPM was the one to notice.

F*ck.

General advice-dump for people interested in joining an art department: learn to use the damned English language.*

From today forward, designers who can't spell on my watch, are getting canned.

*that is, if you are working in an English-speaking Art Department.

I tink yo al nead too sthop spiling tings rong an ghet bak two werk.

*Sorry about the whole ordeal, Sad Max, I can see how frustrating this must be for you. I say, one strike you're out poliicy on crap like this because, at the end of the day, what it comes down to is pure laziness. It is not that hard to pick up a dictionary or, better yet, hop online and hit a few keys into the Isara search field.

It happens, at least you've vented your anger. I'd bottle it up and eventually explode at someone. =)

*i'm gonna watch my spelling when replying to your posts now =P

I don't care about people's spelling on an online forum.

But crap, when I'm paying you US$2.5K/week to make signage, I damn well expect to get signage that's spelled correctly.

I've just started to dabble in Graphic Design and I know to check spelling and grammar. If you don't its a safe bet that you won't be working a lot if at all.

Well, how much does a decent spell checker cost? Surely not that much?

Well...I appear to be functioning as the department's spell-checker, and my rate is more than $2.5K/week.

My wifes company had some dude doing the catalogs for her sunglasses.

It was suppossed to say "I Look Good!"

instead, it went to print saying "I look Gook."

Hundreds upon hundreds of catalogs went out like this.

She was pissed.

Spellcheck anyone ?

Unfortunately... spell-check wouldn't have caught that one.
Unless you meant a human spell checker. Which I'm guessing he was. :D
