Specific FX question

Hi all,

Ok, basically if anyone knows how to do this effect, either:
-refer me to a previous post that has the answer
-refer me to a website that explains how to do it
-tell/show me how to do it myself

Just don't get mad at me.

Ok, i wanna know how to do the effect where you have a title, or any text for that matter, where the word forms from smoke.

So lets say you have the word "chocolate" as the title. Its a white text with black background. So you start with the first letter "c" with smoke coming from it. As the title unfolds the smoke scrolls with it so it looks like the word is forming from the smoke.

If i make no sense, i am very sorry!!!!!

There's no ready FX which will do that -- though there may be in other programs like AE or Boris.

However, I won't say it can't be done in Vegas, because I've found almost anything can be done with varying amounts of work.

If it can be done -- and I have a couple of theories as to how to do it -- it'll take a bit of doing and probably can't be easily explained in a few posts here.

But I'll think on it.

i have done effects like that many times in discreet combustion or after effects. not to hard to do.
